Training
CHEER is committed to training the next generation of health equity scholars and leaders. The Center has a strong focus on student development and offers unique opportunities for students from all levels (undergraduate and graduate) with an interest in health disparities to engage in cutting-edge research - designed to not only enrich the learning and training experience for the student, but also results in genuine contributions improving health and well-being of our populace.
The Center offers opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to receive mentorship from leading experts in health equity in a breadth of methodologies.
What to Expect?
Undergraduate students who are student research fellows of the Center will have opportunities to acquire research experience through data analysis, serving as a research assistant on Center projects, and attending and presenting at regional and national conferences.
Master and doctoral students who are graduate research fellows of the Center will receive project-based mentorship with advanced training in quantitative and mixed methods and health equity by core Center faculty. Opportunities for graduate mentoring in project management and supervision, grant writing, and manuscript co-authorship are central to CHEER’s training model.

Evaluation
CHEER is committed to supporting community health and wellness. The Center conducts program evaluation through a health equity lens for state, national, and private agencies to improve health outcomes in disenfranchised communities and socially marginalized populations.
